Set it up
Add it to Shopify in a few minutes
- Build your product, or open it in your admin, and copy its embed line.
- In Shopify admin go to Online Store, then Themes, and click Customize on your live theme.
- Use the page selector at the top to open the template you want: a page template (for example a “Configure your veranda” page) or a product template.
- Click Add section, choose Custom Liquid and paste the line into its Liquid field.
- Drag the section to where it belongs, save, and test on the live store in a private window.
Custom Liquid is available in Online Store 2.0 themes. Older themes may need the line added to a template file or a custom HTML section instead; menu names can also differ slightly between Shopify versions.

To add a 3D product configurator to Shopify, open the theme editor, add a Custom Liquid section to the page or product template, and paste the one-line embed into it. Buyers design and request a quote on your Shopify page; requests land in your Next Configurator pipeline instead of the Shopify checkout.
Quote requests, not checkout: a made-to-measure product goes to your pipeline as a priced request. You send the quote, and you can collect a deposit when the buyer signs.
What it is
A Shopify product configurator lets a buyer design a made-to-measure product on your Shopify store: set sizes, pick colours and options, see the price and ask for a quote. Made-to-measure verandas, pergolas and carports rarely fit Shopify variants, because width times depth times roof type times colour quickly runs into thousands of combinations. The Next Configurator embed handles that logic in its own 3D configurator and sits inside your theme as one section.
Page or product template
Use a page template when the configurator is the product: one page per product family, linked from your menu. Use a product template when you also sell fixed items through Shopify and want the configurator on one specific product. Create a separate template for it, so the section doesn’t appear on every product in the store.
What the buyer sees
The configurator sits inside your Shopify theme, between your header and footer. The buyer sets the size of the carport, chooses a flat or gabled roof and a RAL colour, sees it in 3D or in AR on their phone, and sends a request with optional site photos. The price shows live, as a “from” price or not at all, per product.
Where requests arrive
Requests don’t go into Shopify orders. They land in your Next Configurator pipeline as complete configurations, where you turn them into numbered quotes with a PDF, an online quote page, e-signature and a deposit. If your store runs Google, Meta or TikTok pixels, the request is reported to them as a conversion.
Things to check
- Pasting into the page editor. The rich-text editor on a Shopify page can strip scripts. Use the Custom Liquid section.
- Every product gets it. Adding the section to the default product template shows it on all products. Use a dedicated template.
- Height. Don’t wrap the line in a container with a fixed height; it resizes itself.
- Consent. If your cookie banner holds back external scripts, allow the configurator as functional.
- Preview domain. If you limited the embed to your own websites, add both your store domain and your myshopify.com address.
