Fences & Gates

A fence configurator that prices the whole run: panels, posts and gates

Put a fence configurator on your website and buyers lay out their own fence in 3D: style, height, length per side, posts and gate, with your prices on every change. You get the request with the whole run filled in.

Pricing rules

How fences are usually priced, and how to set it up

Set these rules once. Every fence your buyers draw is priced the way you would price it on the back of the measuring sheet.

More on live pricing
  1. Price the infill per running metre per height band (up to 1.2 m, 1.5 m, 1.8 m, 2.0 m and above), not per m². Posts and labour don’t scale with area.
  2. Count posts separately: one per panel module (typically 1.8 to 2 m) plus one at every end and corner. A U shape costs more than a straight run of the same length.
  3. Put gates in as fixed prices per type and width, never inside the metre rate. Buyers compare gates; they don’t compare metre rates.
  4. Price the fixing per post: set in concrete for open ground, a bolted base plate on paving or a wall.
  5. Charge the wood-look finish and heavy-duty posts as surcharges, so the basic fence keeps an honest starting price.
  6. Price installation per metre with a minimum charge. Removing an old fence, roots or a slope stay quote-only until you have seen the boundary.

Why a contact form loses fence buyers

A fence buyer usually knows two things: roughly how long the boundary is and how high they want it. A contact form asks them to type that into a box, and then they wait for you to call back with a price per metre that turns out not to include the posts, the gate or the plinth. By the time your quote arrives, the buyer has already filled in three other forms.

A configurator answers the first question on the spot: this style, this height, this many metres, this gate, this price. The buyer who sees €12,000 and keeps going is a real lead. The one who stops at €4,000 for a picket fence was never going to pay for 2 m of aluminium slats. Our guide on showing prices without attracting price shoppers explains where to draw that line.

How to set up your fence configurator

Follow the order the buyer thinks in: style first, then height, then the layout and length per side, then posts and gate, then colour, then extras. Colour last keeps the 3D model the thing they play with, not a dropdown they get stuck on.

Leave out what needs a site visit. Slopes, stepped runs, old fences to remove and soil you can’t drill into all belong to the measuring visit, which the buyer can book straight from the request form together with photos of the boundary. See site photos and measuring visits. With AR, the buyer can also stand in the garden and see the fence along their own boundary on their phone.

Selling tip: sell the gate and the lighting with the fence

Most fence buyers come in for privacy and leave with the cheapest gate, because nobody showed them anything else. Put the driveway gate, the LED post caps and the plinth on screen as options with their price, and the higher-value choices sell themselves. Spring is when gardens get planned, so have your configurator live by February.

Where the configurator goes

Paste one line on your WordPress, Webflow, Shopify or Wix site, or run the storefront on your own domain. Every request fires a Google, Meta and TikTok conversion event with its value, so your ad budget learns which campaigns bring real fence projects. See embedding on your site, or book a 30-minute walkthrough and we’ll set it up with you.

Answered before they ask

The questions your fence buyers have

  • What does 24 metres cost with the gate and the posts included?
  • Will 1.8 m look like a wall next to the house?
  • Does a wood look on aluminium still look like wood from the terrace?
  • Can I see it along my own boundary before I order?
Avoid this

Mistakes sellers make putting fences online

  • Advertising a price per metre that leaves out posts, gates and installation.
  • Offering heights and styles in the configurator that you can’t actually supply.
  • Asking for a sketch of the boundary by email instead of a length per side.
  • Pricing slopes and stepped runs online instead of at the measuring visit.

What you get

  • The request with style, height, length per side, posts, gate, the 3D screenshot and the price breakdown in your pipeline.
  • A numbered quote with Basic, Comfort and Premium options, a PDF, an online quote page and e-signature.
  • Follow-ups that run themselves: unanswered requests become tasks, opened quotes get a reminder.
  • A production sheet from the same configuration: panels, posts, gate hardware and a cut list.

Book a walkthrough
Can the configurator price a fence per metre rather than per fixed size?

Yes. Length is a free value per side, not a size list, so the price follows every metre the buyer adds or takes away, with posts, corners and the gate priced on top.

Does it handle different heights along the same boundary?

You set a height range per product and the buyer picks one height for the run. Runs that genuinely change height partway, for example stepping down a slope, are best left to the measuring visit and a small change to the quote afterwards.

Can gates be automated in the configurator?

Yes. The fence model places a pedestrian or driveway gate in the run. Our separate driveway-gate model offers sliding, swing and bi-folding gates with manual or motorised operation, photocells, a keypad and a video intercom, each with its own price.

Is this called fence quoting software or a fence configurator?

Both. People search “fence quoting software” for the request-and-quote side and “fence configurator” for the 3D tool customers use. Next Configurator is both in one: the 3D configurator feeds straight into a numbered quote.

How quickly can I launch a fence configurator?

Build your configurator from our fence model in about 3 minutes, browse the ready-made templates or try the live demo. Most installers spend their setup time on metre prices and panel names, not on the 3D model. See pricing: one plan, €499 a month, 14-day free trial.
